The InnerFightway

The January barrage of inspiration, motivation, sales pitches and cliches when it comes to fitness is hard to avoid. Some hit, some totally miss, some give us something for a short time and in rare cases some are the tipping point.

Many of the changes are superficial and not lasting. They have no roots. Life becomes busy. Annual work targets scream louder than our waistline and suddenly we find ourselves chasing. A similar feeling that we told ourselves in November would be one we would avoid next year.

The issue is fundamental. The Jan noise will never work unless we go deeper. The answers do not lay in a fake instagram post, a reduced-price gym membership or the promise that being in a constant calorie deficit is actually a way to live.

Why does no one ask you to look within. To start to understand yourself better. To really think about what good health looks like in your life. To cut out the noise, get honest and ask the question of what gets you excited to get up to a 3:39am alarm on a Tuesday.

Now that the Jan hype has calmed down a bit, do not let the dust settle. Keep on with the questions that matter to you. Take your time. Be curious. Experiment. Reflect. It will come, and when it does you will find yourself desperate to get to bed and sleep 8 hours as you can not wait for what you are going to do the next day.

No Weakness.
