IFE on Tour: 3 Countries Marathon

Three countries, picturesque lake shores, impressive mountains, one common goal
Running along the shores of Lake Constance, always accompanied by an impressive Alpine panorama.
The mostly flat route leads from the port of the historical island town Lindau in Germany to Austria, where the floating stage of the Bregenzer Festspiele is passed and definitely a special highlight along the way. The spectacular scenery of the Bregenz festival attracts 160,000 visitors every summer.
“Gruezi” – a warm welcome - to all runners when crossing the boarder to Switzerland. In St. Margrethen enthusiastic spectators carry runners through the village center. The route continues along the Rhine and back to Austria where it crosses the venerable Mehrerau monastery – for many a very special moment of silence and a recharge for mental strength, before the finish line in the stadium in Bregenz awaits everyone with a goose bump feeling.
60% of the 3-Länder-Marathon route is located next to lake Constance and runs mostly on paved roads and paths. It is a very flat route; with its lowest point (398 meters above sea level) to its highest point (415 meters above sea level), the total height difference is only 17 meters spread out over the entire route of 42,195 meters.
