Happy New Year!
Now that we are two weeks into 2018, the last of the turkey has been eaten and the final cork of the champagne has been popped, no doubt you are starting to reflect on those resolutions or goals that you have set out to achieve this year.
I want to raise your awareness and re-introduce what is going on down at InnerFight. Along with the awesome mainline class programming we have, we also have a great range of specialised classes multiple times during the week. In this article I thought I’d share with you the options we have available to help you reach your fitness goals for 2018 and beyond, not to mention the benefits that you’ll get from them.
Gymnastics: A sport of dedication, athleticism and determination. Gymnastics will help you maintain strength, balance and flexibility, power, agility, coordination, grace and control all while using your own bodyweight. Gymnastic training and movements will always complement your CrossFit training along with your day to day life.
Weightlifting: Olympic lifting consists of two types of lifts; the snatch, and the clean and jerk. Both are overhead lifts and involve a full body range of motion. The goal is to lift as much weight safely at a rapid speed using the barbell. These lifts engage every muscle in your body. Stronger muscles can improve your posture and help keep your body in balance – crucial for life in general and instrumental in helping you achieve your fitness goals.
Strongman: Consists of lifting heavy sandbags or stones, flipping tires, pushing and pulling heavy objects. Strongman training will do wonders for you by enhancing functional strength as well as your workout performance. There’s nothing more functional than picking up an awkward object. Think about what strength you need to move objects safely in your everyday life – a Crossfitter will certainly benefit from strongman training when it comes to their performance in the gym.
Cardio: Very simple here, come in and sweat it out, using our cardio equipment and your own bodyweight in movements such as rowing, skiing, powering the assault bikes, running and burpees. Building your engine will always complement your lifestyle and your athletic abilities.
Mobility: Mobility training can improve the range of motion of your joints and muscles, it can also assist in improving your posture. Mobility training can alleviate everyday aches and pains, while making you look and feel better at the same time. The mobility programme that is provided at InnerFight will keep your body in check and in tune for your goals in the gym and your life beyond it.
Consider incorporating one or more of these classes in addition to your regular Mainline classes or Personal Training schedule to reap the benefits and get your 2018 resolutions on track.
For those of you yet to join, being part of the InnerFight community becomes a way of life – and once you get a taste for it, you won’t remember your life before you joined! If you want to be a part of a gym that offers a family-like atmosphere, one in which each member rallies behind you and your goals, InnerFight is right for you. Generally, we encourage sticking to the mainline classes for 2-3 months before adding in the specialised classes; in saying that, each individual is different, with various abilities and varied goals, so please feel free to talk to any one of our coaches who are more than happy to help you with your progression.
I hope this article benefits both our current and long term members who may be looking to improve on their fitness levels and abilities; and also people out there who haven’t quite committed to starting their fitness regime yet.
