“Things are not like they used to be” is a phrase that the old school seem to be bounding around these days like never before. Do they have a point or are they just growing old too fast. But we are not only talking about kids here, grown ups are entering sports competitions based on the size of medal they are going to get just for “finishing”. In this show Tom and Marcus try and breakdown the topic of “participation” as they talk:
Are we motivated for the wrong reasons?
Who worked harder, the winner or last place?
The CrossFit leader board
This is a huge topic and whilst we all understand that everyone is motivated in different ways and that inclusion is the key to many things in life, where does the buck stop? Should we go back to the way it was in schools, is it even right that all kids are treated equal, doesn’t there have to be winners and losers. We believe so but try and give you guys a balanced argument here.
We dig quite nice and deep into some of the participation numbers of Ironman and also the CrossFit open and one thing is for sure in both that the participation numbers are very solid and growing which is a great thing.
