New Year Goals

Here’s what I will be focusing training towards…and I think you should give it a go too…

  1. Health – training should make you healthier both mentally and physically. Why put pressure on yourself to beat someone in a workout or lift the heaviest weight? If you’re not training for the Olympics then what does it matter? Some days will be good, some days will be average and some days will be bad. Don’t beat yourself up about it.
  2. Body composition – your body’s ratio of fat compared to muscle. You want a lot more of the latter. The more muscle you have, the less fat you will have. This will also obviously make you stronger. In simple terms – build muscle, lose fat = get strong.
  3. Aesthetics – Yes, looking good is functional. Whether you agree with this or not, it’s a fact that if you look good, you feel good. Research has also confirmed that fitter people are often thought of as responsible, hard working and smart. And while this is a huge over generalisation, there’s certainly truth to it. You can’t stay lean without at least a little discipline and work ethic.

You will notice that these three points are very similar, so in conclusion – train for strength , health and to look good and you will see and feel like a new person.
