Name: Neil FlanaganFlanners 2

Age: 42

Nationality: British

Speciality: Triathlon and Endurance coaching, Strength and Conditioning for endurance athletes. My favorite saying –  ‘a goal without a plan is just a dream’ – it is my personal mission to help each and every athlete I work with achieve the absolute maximum that they are physically and mentally capable of.
Personal achievements: There are two clear stand out moments for me – qualifying for, and competing at the 2011 World Ironman Championships in Hawaii – treading water at the start line amongst 2000 of the best endurance athletes on the planet for the mass swim start is a moment which will stay with me forever – to be able to back that up a year later by representing Great Britain at the World Sprint Championships in Auckland was a dream come true.

Why I do what I do: Finance had always been my career, and sport was my passion.  I always tried to surround myself with the best people in their field, and working as an athlete with Marcus Smith made me realize what an impact we are able to have on peoples lives through sport.  I had been coaching athletes on an informal basis for 18 months, and it quickly became apparent that watching athletes grow and develop under my tutelage was what I wanted to do. The emotional investment is incredible, and you have to be passionate to do a job that gets you out of bed at 4.30 in the morning!  In July 2013  I formalised my dream job joining InnerFight as Performance &  Endurance coach, and look forward to helping people fulfill their athletic dreams long into the future.
